A young boy or girl is an individual who lives his/her life in a consecration to the world. They do this whether or not they are aware of it. In return they ask from the world that something of an equivalent value be returned to them as fair exchange.

 

They relate this way to their parents, friends, religious faith, government and so forth. One of the components in this experience is the institution of learning. It is here that most young people practice the greatest expectation of value.

 

In a counselling session with a female student, she had informed me of a situation at home that illustrated the principle of value. The father had set up a business and she and her mom had engaged in the usual encouragement and support for him in the enterprise. However, the business had failed and the father had implied by his manner thereafter, that the wife and daughter had misled him on his capabilities.

 

To redeem herself from such an early disappointment, the daughter had enrolled in a marketing program for the benefit of a learned disposition as regards issues, so that she'll be able to provide a well informed encouragement the next time.

 

In selecting issues for an assignment, a student told me he figured computer literacy was already well established in the township that we were in. But how much exactly? He changed his mind on the topic, did a survey and recorded a data of 80% literacy. 80%! .... I heard him mumbling to himself, the next day on the corridor.

 

What equals a young man's consecration of self? It would appear that at the very least, he would expect the elders in the society to exercise themselves with judiciousness on the issues. That translates in the normal way as due care and concern.
