Mystical Series : III

 

 

 

I was about 15 years of age. The world was opening up to my eyes. It contained many strange and new experiences. But nothing was more strange than what my mind was telling me about people in general.

 

It began playfully, but when I enquired further, I was told that everybody knows the truth about themselves but were simply play acting as a way of life. The whole world? I felt incredulous with disbelief!

 

There were two parts to the experience. One part of my mind said everybody was simply acting out their lives. Another part of me, a little more collected, said it is our purpose to enhance the beauty of life and make the world in that way glorious.

 

I tested the first thesis with some friends who stared at me in disbelief and thought me a little whacky. I tested the second thesis with others and was told in no uncertain terms that I should grow up and stop living in a dream world of beautification and vanity.

 

I had begun to get somewhat cautious by then, by my view of the world. I regretted that it wasn't what my dreamt up self appeared to be telling me. And I realized that people are not play acting, they are learning about life, in the schools and universities. Then I realized that it takes a lot of hard work to earn a living and set up a family. That we don't simply wish for these things and beautify the world. It was my growing up experience in my teens.

 

Recently I came back to encounter these two aspects of my early teen experience. I laughed but I was assured that as a young man, the mind works to build in us a great deal of positive thoughts and enthusiasm. Sometimes we rediscover it again when we are older.

 

Play acting and beautification? Ok maybe it was a little exaggerated...but hey....I'm thinking now, with all that I know about reality....and I'm saying its an interesting point of view, at least, as a general summary of all of what we are. Serious!
