Death of an American

Death of an American

He represented the pioneering spirit,

Of a nation that exalted the individual,

Where he lived with the breath of discovery,

Of the forests and animals that his eyes set on,

Who strode bravely into a wilderness unborn,

A man who exemplified youth in his actions,

And the enthusiasm of acts of achievement,

Custer, the lover, adventurer and poet,

Symbolized the freedom of the human spirit,

That explored the vast realms of the possible,

In a land they call, living the dream state,

Where in a final encounter with a nature

That matched his own wily exuberance,

He was led too far away from his own safety,

That became a measure of his robust volition,

And in a bruising encounter with destiny,

Faced off with the sons of the native soil,

Alone with gun in hand until he was done.

The world remembers him for many reasons,

But most of all, that he epitomized the new,

Of a world emerging out of the past,

Awaking to the blazing sun of reality,

From its lazy dreams of the old world charms,

That has brought us charging into the new century,

Of a future with hope and a life of vision.

The American is dead, long live America!

Supreme lies near shore. They like to be near coast. It connects them to infinite boundaries around our globe. Who are we? American? Indian? Carribean? British? Mongolian? Foolish? we are utter fools surviving for crazy undue desires!
