A Paternal Side

A Paternal Side

Fatherhood is an institution in society,

The many fathers who come to it,

Bring with them a serious concern,

Not just about the children they bred,

But the fact that the world needs to be safer,

To be more cognizable for a growing child,

That the world ought to create promises,

Which it thereafter makes possible the achievement.

What that means in some cases is a start,

That is right in the home of the child,

Where the child is not promised everything,

But is made clear of the nature of the world,

And what he can reasonably achieve.

There are homes that promise a paradise,

In a persistent practice of will,

In the young mind of the child,

In an experience that is bound to fail.

But where the child is allowed his play,

And combines that with the practical natures,

He grows up with realistic perceptions,

And the affirmation of what is normal in life,

Which he passes on to his children.

Such times that we live in create such a call,

Where we affirm the need, we create a safe world.
