She Seems to Come at Night

She Seems to Come at Night

A Poem by Daydreaming
"

Things I remember as a kid.

"
She wears her smile like a mask,
Who's face is that, I'll never ask.

She bends and sways,
Only around my bed she stays.

Like the flicker of candle light,
You jump from the corners of my sight.

Why do you taunt me with games and toys,
I know you'll never bring me joy.

You offer me sweets, pretend to be kind.
I'll never give control of my mind.

The sun is rising, time to go.
Where that is, I don't know.

Under the bed, you seem to lay.
Waiting, watching me, your prey.

However we look, You never stay.
You only return at night, to take my away.

I love the way you visualize sleep and create a monster image for her. Such a relatable image and metaphor. It's like reading a scary story except it is real. Nicely written!

Most poems that are written in rhyming couplets seem to come off as whimsical. But yours has a somber, almost mystical quality that intrigues me.

No problem! I'd enjoy reading more from you!
I like this your visual description was playful and kept on target. Good Job!
