Burning BridgesA Poem by DayaHow do you end something that never even had a start? A fairy tale you
created to make you feel less lonely, more alive. Sometimes knowing what you are getting into makes no
difference. You still fall head over hills and way to fast. Keep telling
yourself you can easily walk away when the time is right. That you are strong enough to hide the hurt behind a facade. Easily move on with your life. And perhaps you are right. Life has gotten you good at pretending not to care At constantly chanting that you are fine. I wish I had a chance to change your stubbornness A chance to pull you out of your loneliness You burned down bridges you never realized you would have
to cross again. You weaken the ones that at the time, offered the most
support. You are drowning and you don’t want to admit you need a
life boat. Unshed tears are building up. Growing deeper and deeper with every sad song. Are you alright baby girl? The answer doesn’t matter, does it? In the end, there is no one to give you a hug. To dust you off, tell you to get up. It’s just you. You alone. So please baby girl, Don’t go burning down these bridges too. © 2016 DayaReviews
