Give Way

Give Way

A Poem by Fabiana
"

A reflection

"

Looking at the spinning blades of the fan

I’m reminded of the whirling of skirts on summer days

On those days when the sun held no weight

The endless sky held the promise of laughter forever

And of fireflies to take us to far away dreams

But then the moon rose into my life

Its seductive pull reflecting the light from the fiery ball

I followed you up into the clouds

To watch you kiss distant worlds

Only to find that they are cold and distant

The adventures promised seem so short lived

They blink out and as I grow closer to the lights

I wonder what next?

If these treasures hold no fireworks

If they hold grey endless winter

Instead of the fire that was foretold

All of the fireflies have left us

Only a desert of nothing remains

awwww I'm so excited you joined and that this is your first poem you have shared with this writing community. I can see a lot of Florence and the Machine influence in this poem. I'm not the only poet in the house ;)

That poem is beautifully worded. I'm still getting used to figuring out others meanings in their work, is this about wanting new adventure? Once you've done one thing, it's mystique is destroyed and you move onto a new thing. That's what I saw in the poem anyway, I'm sure I've got it wrong :)

This is awesome for your first poem on writerscafe!
Keep up the good words and welcome to the community. Send me read requests whenever.
