An Unfinished Life

An Unfinished Life

A Poem by Rambling Prose
"

Movie Madness/slam poetry

"

Born in the garden state during

Springtime in a small town.

Season’s last blizzard...

A raging bull,

A black Friday,

 At  daybreak.

Grew up

  Chasing dreams

Dreams bigger than the sky,

Wound up with a bitter moon.

Neither stardust nor stardom,

No days of thunder

       Just my luck...

Living in a state of grace,

Dazed and confused.

Waiting for happiness,

    Losing it

       Waiting…

If I could have chosen my

place in this world to live,

I'd be an American in Paris.

In its stead...I enjoy

    Breakfast at Tiffanys

Not really…

Adrift in Manhattan,

Somewhere between

The agony and the ecstasy,

   Living it up

     amongst friends.

 Look at me…

The lonely lady

Addicted to love.

When will I be loved?

  Love me if you dare...

My life is a silent movie,

Spoken with a silent tongue.

No signs of life,
       silence

 Say anything!

     whisper...

    If I only knew

How Stella got her groove back

Who knows what dreams may come?

     What lurks around the bend?

"Live free or die hard"

  That’s what they say...

A life  less ordinary,

Just live and let live.

   Life is beautiful

          Smile.

Still breathing,

    It’s still life

My main focus is  staying alive

I’ll most likely die having lived

      An unfinished life...

        Won’t we all?

No sense in playing the crying game

  Big girls don’t cry, right?

Place a black rose on my grave

                          Time to leave…

             … Lady Vanishes

                     Gone with the wind…

Rambling Prose
I actually wrote this for a contest that I later realized I wasn't permitted to enter because I was not a member of the group. I decided to start my own - Movie Madness contest - but I can't enter my own contest!

Then I saw a 'slam poetry' contest. Not being sure what it was, I read up on it, and so, I thought this piece might work, but I've been wrong before! (giggles)

Give it a go and enter my Movie Madness contest!

This is a wonderful tribute to an industry that has forgotten what films are all about as they force us to watch bad remakes of old TV shows on the silver screen. The way you blended in the names of some of the biggest movies of our time was fun to see as my eyes slid down each line. A joy to read and a pleasure to enjoy

An intriguing write with some great lines, true lines giving way to thought... very nice combinations of lines and thought, the order is great! Thank you for sharing your work!

Loved it - not as strong as some of the other slam pieces in the contest, but the allusions are great.

It's horrible how you perceive life as being so joyless

Addicted to love.
When will I be loved?

I think it is better to love than to be loved. You got to give for the love of giving, and then it's all going to come back to you.

I'll most likely die having lived
An unfinished life...

Well we can all say that we're not going to finish our lives there's always something that we miss, something that we wanted and we couldn't get. The key to happiness is to look at the bright side: the goals you accomplished, the love you speeded, the people you made happy; these are the most important things that make our lives worthy of being lived, and complete.

I hope I got the message you were trying to communicate.

A.M.

This piece definitely stands as a poem on its own without the reader necessarily knowing that the movie titles are fit into it. It's coherent, has an easy flow and suggests a kind of wistful menlancholy. And it's a lot of fun to read!

I was impressed with your last piece.... this one... blew me away! I am so fascinated by this, I'll have to go back and read it again. You so cleverly placed movie titles throughout in order to bring home the corresponding emotion.... and did it well! Wow.

I loved this piece! Truly...

Write on...!! :)

My Fair Lady, Enchanted me with this display of Mad Science, when I say Mad Science, I mean,Entrapment, sucking my eyes into this Abyss of pure writing. It had a sort of Butterfly Effect on me, sucking me back and forth through the years and titles of movies. A sort of Crusaders of the Lost Ark adventure. Wrapped in this Cocoon of wonder, I made Contact with that most humorous side of self. It's my Terms of endurement I so affectionately allow myself, sort of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde syndrome. Regardless of this journey, I've been to the Core of my writers heart. Thanks and well done.
