POW/ PIA VETS

A Story by Dawn Davis
"

I wrote this about my great cousin Pat. His wife showed the true meaning of faith and faithfulness because that one sentence just being a man lost at war, gave her the strength to wait for him until her dying day. and that is what she did. They found his

For the POW/MIA VETS!!!!

Pat Lee Shannon was my 3rd cousin.  They finally found some of his remains last year. I'm sure that some of you reading this may have heard on the news.  His funeral was one of grace honor and pride.  People from all over the world came to pay respects and i thank you so very much.  He was on Lima 85 and his unit was ambushed, running out with guns ablazing he fought for his unit and gave his life for his country.  He left behind a wife that waited for her true love never remarrying and several children. She never gave up hope for he was only a man missing in action.   She past away 6 months prior to finding his remains. I am so honored to have his blood coursing through my veins! GOD BLESS YOU PAT!!!!!!!!  May you and your wife be reunited in peace and eternal happiness!!!!!!

Come For Me!!!!!!!

Twenty years in the jungle has taken its toll on me.

I'm not the same man i used to be.

But one thing is consistant...  I long to be free.

Please, Mr. President, come for me.

The scars of my torture will never go away,

I'm fifty pounds lighter, my hair is now gray.

But their shackles can't chain the freedom in me,

Please, lawmakers, come for me.

If my family believed there's a chance I'd survived,

they'de fight to their deaths to prove i'm alive.

I last saw my son when he was just three,

Please, loving family, come for me.

Some captors say you don't know that i'm here,

that i'm doomed to this prison year after year.

God Bless America, land of the free.

Please, friends and parishioners, come for me

Other captors say you know that i'm here,

but refuse to accept the evidence, so clear.

Will some caring citizens hear my plea?

Please, fellow countrymen, come for me.

I'll have faith in my country 'till my dying day,

I'll never believe you could leave me this way.

My country 'tis of thee...

Please, please, america, come for me!!!

What ever happined on that day is here nor there for it is now in the past and we are living his legacy......  A future of freedom!!!!!!  I SOLUTE YOU SIR!!!!!!!

An excellent patriotic tribute Dawn, to a man I consider a fallen comrade. I may never have known him, and I may have served in a different army in a different country, but our ideals and reasoning I have no doubt were shared. I have written many military poems on thestarlitecafe.com site under the name 'tomfoollery'. I think you've touched many nerves with this piece. Tom

Dear Dawn, I am a Vietnam Veteran, although I can't relate too being a Pow or MIA. I do have freinds that were captured and tortured. Some survived some didn't. Unfortunately this is the price of Freedom. Too many people take there freedom for granted, they think the government gave it to them when in fact it was the American Soldier. I am so sorry for your loss, but give my thanks to your cousin Pat for a job well done. There are only two people willing to die for you. Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. Jesus died to save your soul and The American soldier for your freedom.
