Lives

Lives

A Poem by Dawn Davis

Lives

Our lives have touched a million times, or more
Yet till this passage only touched by light
I feel you standing just outside of my door
Come in, and dwell, as now it is your right

Your ocean here has washed across my shore
The tide I cannot push away at last
But lately rather cherish I the flood
And to the rising waters I cling fast

You wash around me, thoroughly, and well
Infusing me with dreams of love thats grown
You envelope me, like a guarding shell
Providing safety I have never known

Your castle here within my heart does stand
To enter in, need only take my hand.
