Lena put it well, when she noted how non-Pagetic this poem was, but I am STILL chuckling, as MY feline has been sulking for three days now, after I pointedly rejected her not-completely-dead love offering, placed ever so delicately upon my pillow. How can we let them know that we appreciate their grudging obeisance, but are not thrilled by rodentia, in general?

I truly love this David. So out of character for you but a delight just the same. My little monster went hunting bugs last night and got something stuck in her throat so we have been nursing her all night. She is loving the cool weather right now and loves prowling through the garden. Thanks for making me smile!
its hard to believe such pretty creatures could do such nightmare things, my cat has brought me some horrific morning trophies, dropped them on the kitchen work top, waiting for applause. i like cats though.
you captured the mood really well. made me smile. Thanks.
Brilliant! I'm smiling, truly smiling! This is filled to the brim of wondrous scenes, distinct happenings. Before reaching your final line, i had a sneaky feeling you were 'talking' of a cat! You write with such insight and natural rhythm as if you look at the world in couplets or sonnets.
Laughingly horrible accuracy, poet you:
'She looks with disdain
When I beckon to her,
And only runs in
For the dish by the chair,
But brings me a present
At dawn’s early light,
A rat with no head or
A pigeon in flight!
lol Rats! Well it's either about a feline or the goings on in an asylum garden.... but your observations are keen and your rhymes the best on this site. Sketches from the master's brush, always turn out like grand portraiture. Rats.
