Water or Milk

Water or Milk

A Poem by David Lewis Paget
"

Staggering into the kitchen, at 4am, 38 years ago, I went to the fridge...

"

All I can offer you;

Water or milk,
Dreams for your lonely ones,
Sadness and silk,
Schemes for your dreamers and
Thread for your seamers to
Weave in a tapestry
Of some other ilk.

All that I ask of you
Eyes for your sight,
Ears for your listening to
Sounds in the night.
Cheers for the lucky ones, hear-
Hears for the plucky ones and
Tears for the loved ones who
Dropped out of sight.
