Come QuicklyA Poem by David Lewis PagetBefore the mountains Quake and fall away,
And rivers dry, or
Turn to scattered clay,
Could I live to see the day
Come Quickly!
Before the headstrong
Drown themselves in blood
And armies fall, or
Choke in lakes of mud,
When all is lost in fire and flood
Come Quickly!
Before the hopeful few
Are sick at heart
And die forlorn, or
Torn from soul apart,
Unknowing when to stop or start
Come Quickly!
Before the hunter’s
Stopped and overawed
And comes to take the foolish
At their word,
Could I redeem myself, Oh Lord
Come Quickly!
