Our humanity is so fragile. Reflected in the mirror, it readily defines you by the day, in the reflection of the eyes of society. When we are young, we lack the depth of understanding to appreciate our beauty. Then, just as we have gotten ourselves mentally, emotionally, and spiritally aright, our bodies begin to fall apart. Life is the ultimate irony, and God is a comedian.

Sad but true. At my age I'm trying so hard to hang to my youth but everyday day in every week I feel it getting harder. Do we accept agreeing gracefully?? I can not and won't. Not yet anyway. Great piece
Regards
Perhaps sad yes but so very true. As we age we become familiar with everything and anything to keep us feeling alive and vibrant yet we peer into the mirror and still see that yes age has still taken its grip on us. Loved this David. Bravo!!
poignant. I have been 'feeling my age' creep up for the past few years - and lamenting my child hood -
That youth was never
What it seemed,
But some sad dream
A dreamer dreamed.
This is truth...
This is sad and emotional. I've heard others complain about age in the same way. That you feel fine until one fine day you've noticed what's changed. Beautiful piece!
Amazing precision on thoughts about aging, and your words echo what most people feel about it. The remedies mentioned feed the corporate world of beauty & wellness products, a big business in our time.
Written so excellently with wit and humor, and a tinge of longing for lost youth, the title concludes it all - it is indeed a sad dream for some.
I've always believed that age was just a number but I guess you reach a moment where the truth shines upon your face. Literally. I see the changes occurring and wonder where that sweet young girl went. She's still here somewhere under the sags and bags... hiding. Thank you for this bittersweet piece. ;-)
When we are young we assume it lasts. It is so insidious how it ebbs away so slowly. But the day does come and we find we have to pay the man. vanity the ultimate collector . Very nice.
