Incredibly touching poem David and so eloquently read in person. I've heard and read most of the stories, happy and sad about the two divided traditions within Northern Ireland but this one is up there with the best ballads, songs and poems I can think off.
You show how love can conquer even the most extreme sectarian divide, and sadly how the bigoted refuse to allow this to happen, by taking their murderous intent even into a holy place during wedlock !
And indeed, as if the gravity of their actions were not serious enough, the pathetic scene afterwards when the bodies are separated, destined to lie apart within their own religious sanctuaries!
Gratifying that the great Redeemer, uplifts them in spiritual unison away from the anarchy below to be together for all eternity!
Astounding effort, so glad I came across this remarkable piece of poetry ! 'The pen can do so much more than the sword' !
An individual's rights are preserved by the constitution and the law. Love on the other hand brings a sentiment to define the individual. Where a man may obtain his just respite by the judgement of his peers, a man of love seeks his reckoning in heaven. Both however live the home that this brings them to. A change of pace David. Nicely done.
Your voice is very hypnotic. It has a mystique quality that made me want to keep on going. Beautifully written, as always. The spoken aspect, however, made it epic.
Wow this is amazing, how sad that there is so much hatred in this world. Yet love conquers all. I love the way you have done this, a much more personal approach to poetry and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
This is a new venue for you .I like it . To me i think it is about time we got a look at you. lol Well your storytelling is really nice and It lends to the thoughts and cadance of the piece. I get a quiet comfort out odf the story being read for us .
Thank You
