2013

This year that creeps up on the clock

Has made no friend in me,

It holds the seeds of all that may

Go wrong, adversity.

 

It drips, just like a faulty tap

Its rhythm undisturbed,

Creeps up along our boundaries,

May not be stopped, or curbed.

 

It answers only to itself

No fee may slow its chant,

Each life bleeds slowly with each tick,

Winds down our covenant.

 

I thank the year that we have seen

Pass on, and all its gains,

For we survived, and live to tell

Its laughter, and its pains.

 

But this intruder, in its cloak

Of anonymity,

Has yet to put its stamp on us

This gross humanity.

 

The millions who will pass away

Before this year is done,

Would wish to halt it in its sway,

Not write it on their tomb.

 

So let us all assault this year

With hope and pride possessed,

And blunt its sting, with deeds and cheer

Let God decide the rest!

I suppose your poetry rhymes because you craft your words carefully instead of just throwing them out willy-nilly. Of course I'm not a good enough writer even to question you.

This was a tough year! So many good people were lost and friends depressed and heart broken. I too am glad to see a new year upon us. Let's hope its the best!

Yes, the more of us who go forward with "deeds and cheer" the less damage we will impose upon ourselves. It is these things that will save us all, but only if enough of us can echo this message. Things are changing, but not of our creation, yet we now stand at an important crossroad; we can take the path of higher consciousness or continue to believe in the false idol which inevitably leads to self destruction. The cracks in this false idol are beginning to show and I believe they will become very obvious this year... Will we continue to bury our heads in the sand or start rejecting this false idol?

bleek but good.I do not like your prediction for the year but I love the poem.I believe on the contrary that we are at the midst of a universal awakening where we all become aware of the lies we have been forced to swallow and realize that there is no reason to hate over beliefs and desires.We all have different ones

I believe 2013 will be a good year. I believe the meek and quiet people are coming alive and making statements. The woman in India gather as millions and create change. A young girl shoot on a bus in the Middle east. Showed the world terrorist have no right for their actions. Hard to awake the good people. I believe for proper change and a better world. The meek and the kind hearten must take control. When greed is the lead of a world. No-one will will win except the 3% with the wealth. Thank you for the positive blog and have a good new year.
