For the Children of Sandy Hook

For the Children of Sandy Hook

A Poem by David Lewis Paget

I live in a great, wide open land

At the other end of the earth,

But the TV News and the Devil’s views

Are beamed to my own home hearth,

And often I think to turn my head

As the joy of life’s undone,

Back in that great democracy

At the point of a loaded gun.

We learnt our lesson and banned all weapons

When we took time to choose,

After a madman ran amok,

So why don’t you do it too?

For now the parents are bent in grief

For their lost young daughters and sons,

I couldn’t do anything else but weep,

Please God, get rid of the guns!

hah... I really doubt that the world can get rid of all its firearms now that they've become so entrenched in human society... still, one can hope. The children deserve a better world.

On a different note:
As always, I love the way your rhymes flow. Thank you for sharing this piece! :)

hmm. Sobering to read. You usually keep it lighter - or at least you take us on a wild journey but this - this is reality and reality is painful. I found the first four lines especially strong. It mirrors how I feel. Well penned. Well penned.

A fitting tribute but I doubt the world will get rid of guns now. It is very easy for people now a days to get ahold of a gun as easy as getting drugs. All you would have to do is walk down to the corner and get either one. Society just keeps getting worse and worse I dont think anything will stop its own decay. Impressive work as always.

Ahyways all proof points to a false flag operation. No different than 911.We could let the murderers disarm us but they will know the operation worked and the next time they want us to lay down to their desires they will use the same tactics. My 10 year old has a shotgun. He hunts and he is the best shot in the family. If you teach your children about guns they will know what they are meant for.
Adam Lanza's mother worked for DARPA.They make military grade video games for training. His father was the Head Tax man for General Electric.Due to testify in the LIBOR scandal. They will settle LIBOR out of court for 1.5 trillion dollars now that they have no witnesses.James Holmes Father is a top scientist for FIDA and was also going to testify in LIBOR scandal. When the truthn about LIBOR comes out we are all going to want a gun so we can protect ourselves.

I love the poem but I must point out that drugs are illegal and children are still dying from them.I live 45 minutes from any town with police and I doubt they would make it to me in a break in.I will be eating deer for the next couple of months because I can afford it over store bought meat.I hope they don't take my only form of security away.I would hate to have to pray the guys with the guns get there on time if my house gets broke into
