The River LetheA Poem by Scott Wolfskill5th poem in the album Plea from the Dark, written 5/5/14.Come to the
River Lethe, Embrace its
infinite waters. Drink from
its sweet flow of forgetfulness.
Place in it
your hope and trust, As it washes
away decay and rust.
Drink, drink
before you learn Life’s
waters sweet will bitter turn.
Drink, drink
before you see The nothing
life has promised thee.
Drink, drink
and before your eyes You’ll soon
forget your desperate cries.
Let its
waters within flow To wash away
the defeated past. Partake in
it and you will know Your bitter
memories no more will last.
Away with
the tears, the guilt and the shame. Allow its
waters to cleanse your pain.
When the
truth becomes too much to bear All life’s
worries will no longer care.
Come to the
River Lethe, Drown
yourself in its comforting flow. Embrace this
false reality. © 2015 Scott Wolfskill |
