Plea from the Dark

Plea from the Dark

A Poem by Scott Wolfskill
"

4th poem in the album Plea from the Dark, written 4/2/14.

"

Stillness.

The haunting wind.

Traces of a whisper.

Echoes of footsteps.

In the night I heard

A desperate call,

A plea from the dark.

The barren trees whispered

His final lament.

The wind carried with it

Echoes of pain.

An abandoned soul,

Whose only friend was Death.

As his mournful tale unfolded,

The black sky poured out

His agonizing tears.

The forest’s shadows revealed

His forsaken hope.

His imploring plea was swallowed by

The call of the Raven.

His cries could be borne no longer.

A bitter departure.

A deafening thunderbolt.

Echoes of footsteps.

Traces of a whisper.

The haunting wind.

Stillness.

Love the imagery and how it evokes feelings. You have painted a scene and set the readers into their own song. one with skill and expertise of language.
