Faded DreamsA Poem by Scott WolfskillA poem I wrote on 6/24/14 for my solo project, Solitude's Call.As I stand
atop mountains, The truth of
the world is made clear.
I feel the
suffocating wind, A bitter
heartbreak, The crushing
void.
I see rivers
of tears, Dark forests
of pain, And barren
deserts of death.
I reflect
upon the days that passed, My hopes and
dreams of old. Just as true
happiness never lasts, My heart’s
been left empty and cold.
I reflect
upon the meaning of life, For what
purpose are we here? To feel
anger, envy, hatred and strife, To suffer,
despair, and fear?
I reflect
upon how many times I tried, My failures
I wish to forget. Just as
everything eventually withers and dies, My days are
filled with regret.
My heart’s
been broken, my hope undone, The only
thing I see now is the dusk. Just as
night follows the fading sun, My dreams
have been crippled and crushed. © 2014 Scott WolfskillFeatured Review
