A New Tomorrow

A New Tomorrow

A Poem by David Smothers

Just kickin' back
Thinking about life
What it means to me
To be free

Something you said really got me
Underneath the layers of my skin

There's certainly one thing I need to know
How do I get where I wanna go?

I'm tired of doing things on my own
Who's gonna take this burden from me?

And I need to fly

You show me the power of the rain
When I want to run away from the pain
You show me the way
The way
To a new tomorrow

Some days I feel like I wanna walk to the sun
All this is hard for anyone

Tipped the apple cart and made it spill
Still finding my way; finding my will

The lessons of this life, I've learned the hardest way
Done more than just get by

I'm shoveling sand up hill
It's coming down on me
Come and take me away

You show me the power of the rain
When I want to run away from the pain
You show me the way
The way
To a new tomorrow

I love to write. I am merely an observer of a broken world. I just try to box it up in words. more..
