Can't Blame Me for Being Brave

Can't Blame Me for Being Brave

A Poem by David Smothers

Don't tell me twice cuz I got it
What you were trying say
Didn't see the road I was traveling
Going to carve out a new way

I'm seeing what transpired
My broken down parts
There's a lot of miles on these tires
I've kept from falling apart

My life's picking up
Thanks for your truth that you gave
The message is loud and clear
Can't blame me for being brave

Walked down those tracks before
That long and lonely road
Failed too many times to keep score
I'm carrying the whole damn load

You don't get this gray for nothing
No you don't get this gray for nothing

My life's picking up
Thanks for your truth that you gave
The message is loud and clear
Can't blame me for being brave

I'm stronger now
I've learned how
To stare failure in the face
I've learned to keep pace

Got a lot riding on this effort
I'll take your advice
I know I'm a working part
The truth will suffice

I'm stronger now
I've learned how
To stare failure in the face
I've learned to keep pace

Taken a lot of heat these days
You can hear it in my voice
Changing all my ways
This path is my choice

My life's picking up
Thanks for your truth that you gave
The message is loud and clear
Can't blame me for being brave

Have a nice day.

I love to write. I am merely an observer of a broken world. I just try to box it up in words. more..
