I Fly

I Fly

A Poem by David Smothers

Well there was a man; A good man
Gotta little lost along the way
Sought shelter on the side of the road
He waits

Didn't know he could go anymore
Saw the light grow dim at the end of the road
He rides

Not seeing
Still hoping
contemplating
Still loving
He tries

Face down in a ditch of pain
Shoulda stopped to complain
But no ear could hear
His cries

Wrapped with a love this time
Tired of the pain inside
Walkin' again
He'll rise

Stop that ferry man just one more time
I ain't wastin time
To find it
He finds

No more blind to see
The gift inside of me
Ain't gonna hide it
I fly

I love to write. I am merely an observer of a broken world. I just try to box it up in words. more..
