The Beginning of a LegacyA Poem by David TrisdaleThis was an assignment that we were giving in my 8th grade English class. The objective was to write a poem explaining our feelings from Kindergarden to 8th grade.
Kindergarden was full of exploration and cheer;
With little to worry and nothing to fear I went to first grade anxious to learn; I feeling that I immeasurably yearned With the passing of the first came the arrival of second; Where I understood little English, and often communicated through beckon Then came all the responsibilities as I arrived to 3rd grade; With all the numerous burdens and troubles of school work I often became terrible afraid 4th grade was quiet easy; I cannot complain; To say I didn't miss it would be incredibly insane That all changed as I hit 5th grade; When tragedy struck, and left the school shocked and dismayed With the loss of a teacher and a fellow student; Our judgement on life became a little more translucent With 6th grade many perplexing problems did arise; Many words in columns to my surprise 7th grade was very confusing I must say; It was all work with little or no time to play Then I crept into my final 8th grade year; You can say we had evolved into the schools pioneers 8th grade flew by way to fast; Sad to say in a couple of days it'll all just be in the past Closing this chapter on this book I call "My Life" is very depression; But when you see my face that won't be my expression For I am strong…Patriot strong! © 2014 David TrisdaleAuthor's Note
