Cheerios

Cheerios

A Chapter by DavidRyanM

Barry sat at his kitchen table, in his boxers, eating a bowl of cereal and listening
to the news. His girlfriend, Tjetji, also sat at the table, also in her underwear, also
eating a bowl of cereal. "How did we get here?" She asked solemnly. "We fell in love," Barry replied. Tjetji seemed pleased with this answer and went back to eating.

The "rut"! The comfort of routine yet the blandness and boredom of the same thing. Isn't that always how it is? One person is content while the other is questioning the reality of the relationship. If only we could always be falling in love.....

nice write, dave!

Interesting choice in names...Barry sounding so common and middle-class suburbia, while Tjetji sounds foreign and exotic. Kind of like an "opposite ends" sort of couple. I find this chapter heart-warming and heart-breaking at the same time. Her being pleased with their disposition proves that love is enough yet maybe it's a form of settling most aren't content with.
