SONNET TO MY DREAM WOMANA Poem by David M PitchfordPetrarchan Sonnet from January 08Sonnet to My Dream WomanIt was just your picture at first—no! Your
words and lines and verses—poetry flows
from you, tide of my desire. Only goes
heavenward for my heart. I see you pour
your heart out in lines, and my desires soar
to heavens you grace with each smile—it glows
from within you. Vibrant peach! Love, love sows,
but what shall verse reap? Desire, I implore!
What gentle gesture foments love? One dance
gyrating on a lighted floor? Breastfed
sons are coddled–envy such love! Yet, chance
need not be the end . . . Decision instead
drives us to bless each other. What romance
but what we create? On your breast, I’m fed!
