Just A Bit Part

I still recall the first time we met

A something had happened to me

Even though I’d not met you before

I knew that it had meant to be

 

Quick smiles, nervous glances

Each from one to the other

Caused a deep thing to stir inside

Which had never come from another

 

Much too quickly those days passed

Until all began to decay

Feelings once so overwhelming

Were unexplainably being eaten away

 

It had only been one of life’s little games

Sent from above to harden the heart

More of life’s games were still to come

This was merely one unpleasant bit-part
