Clowning Around

She travels with pipe and drum

Hers to create a happy crowd hum

Dances and whirls, with bright curls

Colored stockings worn by clown girls

Bright painted toes with big cherry nose

And skin as white as fresh winter snows

She’s a crowd favorite where ever she shows

 

Down the street she goes

Twirling on her toes

Wearing her clownish clothes

 

Festoons balloons, musical spoons

She’s tooting her horn, during a halt

T’ween her whirls on the asphalt

She skips ropes and does somersaults

A costume colored in every shade

Pudgy hips and lips bright made

The brightest star of the parade

 

Down the street she goes

Twirling on her toes

Wearing her clownish clothes

This is a very bouncy piece, love your words and the rhyme.... i might add that clown kind of scare me a bit, because sometimes under that frilly costume ans that painted face is a very troubled person....and this is away of making them conspicuous and laughable.....love it!

funny you should mention that
I am a semi-pro (ie; part time) painter and I had done a 4'x3' painting of a very fat female clown that was bought for a grandchild, but returned because it scared her too much.
I suppose they can be kind of scary looking
