Garden GateA Chapter by Dave Brown🕊️🕊️🕊️🦋🦋🦋🐇🐇🐇🦋🦋🦋By garden gate a hedge
now grows With pink of rose to
share Growing through aged
shingles there With mossy underwear Rusty hinges have
stained cedar planks As has dye from a
broken latch Clematis blooms with
purple pride With worn bricks underfoot,
all orange agedly dyed Japanese, hand shaped
maple leaves On tender stalks are playfully
teased As light breezes lead an
impromptu flower dance While honey bees offer
a firther enhance A raised trellis
holding wild wanderings Of twisting grape and
trumpet both Cast their winding shade
below Where sedum spreads longside
dianthus’s growth The barely standing cast
iron gate leads Through cosmos with blossoming
seeds All flowered tween two
apple trees Beside an aged garden
bench resting at ease Where to sit watching
sunlight stroll Across crowns of leaves
faded show Speckled growth on
branches flow Sprinkled like soft
drops of snow As creeping shadow’s cover
all Stretching from one
gate to the other’s dim sight Yawning birds no longer
think of flight As a sleeping garden dreams
through another night © 2024 Dave Brown |
