Many varieties of aerial visitors

Have taken interest in our fields

Going off-wing with head’s bobbin

Seemingly satisfied with daily yields

These are globetrotters I welcome

But not so, the resident crew

Tho’ mostly residing in damp soil

Often end up as bird chew

The sight of a busy Robin

With its beak stretching a worm

Sustenance for the winged one

For the other, it’s the end of a squirm

But it’s the Swallow that’s our assurance

That Spring did finally arrive

And no matter what Man does to Mankind

It’s essential that God’s Swallow’s survive
