Planet Awoney

A Chapter by Dave Brown

The inhabitants living on planet Awoney

Were only interested in makin lotsa money

Whatever the job, no matter how tough

Of that money stuff, there was never enough

To make more and more, with greater ease

They drilled oil wells and cut down endless trees

Only fake news condemned these aberrations

As onward surged all the massive populations

A frump, governing from jail, helped ruined clean air

But they were makin lotsa money and didn’t care

Till someone noticed their planet had got priddy hot

Until, too soon there wasn’t any single cool spot

The horrible heat started fires in tinder dry brush

Over hill and through valley, it continued to rush

Everywhere, Planet Awoney became dry as a bone

The horrid heat continued, while depleting ozone

The fish in the seas had hot water bakin ‘em

Birds and bees, had their fried brain’s forsaken’em

Disappearing trees were candled by heat waves as well

Except for makin money, the planet was going to hell

Diseases and virus took the population to task

Soon every man and wee child had to wear a mask

They tried to isolate everyone on the planet

But the population said, go to hell and god damn-it

Soon the population covered each sq.in. of ground

All traumatized by horrid heat everywhere round

They ran to find space ships for refuge in Mars

But Elon had first loaded them with electric cars

The last being been seen of planet Awoney

Was it drifting the cosmos covered in tonsa money

With a note pinned to the last tree with a nail

Saying in Awoneyese,

“To the highest bidder, this tree’s still for sale!”…………
