I rode my grey into La Villa Palmero

A desert hole that sprang up by a well

With sun frying down on my sombrero

I’d come to find my Mexican belle

She’d been taken by a Spanish vaquero

While in her hacienda, longside trailside

Since I’d owed him muy pesos from Faro

He stole away my soon to be bride

He sat waiting with a half tequila

In a cantina right center of town

When he saw me, he knocked it

Onto sawdust, tequila spilled down

Heavy hot air was still as a deathbed

As the bartender ran out the door

We each stared blackly, nothing was heard

Cept his boot scrapping on the saloon floor

While she sat in the corner, wet eyed

He stood with an insolent grin

We drew, but I didn’t want to kill

So, I slammed my gun’s butt into his chin

He lay unconscious in midst of filth

I, lookin down at what had I done

Saw thet his chin was sure real broken

But he’d git another day in the sun

I pulled out my ‘Grizzly’ for a satisfyin chaw

While Carlita waved her face with a fan

When I offered, she told me her Papa

Only let her chaw, the brand called ‘Red Man’
