Laying longside river's bank

Basking in joy of the stream

Could life offer more pleasure

All part of a most perfect dream

A tiny morsel drifts toward me

Gently lit by a bright sunbeam

Opening my mouth I swallow it

And then I can’t help a scream

A nasty hook was hidden in it

And I’ve swallowed it whole

Its gone down past my stomach

And lodged deeply into my soul

I’m yanked out of the water

Screaming and gasping in air

I try to flip off the hard bank

But I’m not gettin no where

A woman approaches with a big club

Which could author the end of my story

And after hammering me on the head

There's no thought of saying, “I’m sorry!”
