Walking with Cougar

Walking with the cougar

Through the quiet, cool shaded valley

Alongside the flowing stream

Passing by water smoothed rocks

Passing fallen, wind-blown Fir

And broken Cedar that quietly lays

 

Deep moss makes footsteps silent

While sharp eyes search beyond salal

The owl stoically sits silently searching

Pon a limb still clothed with fading leaves

Gathering squirrels stop their chatter

To watch us quietly by

 

The last of autumn has gone

Time now for the long sleep

From last of nature’s berries

The black bear has eaten his fill

While cougar waits in silence

For slow rabbits and deer

I know Black bears, and we probably have cougars here as well, so who've can stuff their bellies before the frost, the better, including the cougar, depending upon what his diet is....

Since I am sure, monsieur la cougar would enjoy a good, tasty chunk of BESTB leg, arm or torso, I suggest that if you happen to be going down to the woods today, intending to enjoy a Teddy (black) Bear's picnic, you should perchance, possibly, perhaps consider going in disguise ( as a huckleberry or salal bush or something of the like??) or you could be in for a surprise!!!!
What with life being so full of surprises.
