Wearin Blue Suede Shoes, with my Hound Dog

Both Coal Miner’s Daughter, Miss Molly and I

All Walked the Line Near Abbey Road  

Longside that Mystery Train on Track 49

 

An evergreen I’d often seen had a Blackbird

And a Rockin Robin on its branches

They were doin a Whole Lota Shakin

Definitely not normal forest circumstances

 

Rockin to the Beat neath the Boardwalk

Then, had the evergreen trees all swaying

Before I said thatsototallythewierdestthing

More Honkey Tonk music started playin

 

And up from Credence Clearwater creek       

I heard lotsa Rip it Up, like I had on earphones

Where Dire Straits was Rockin on the River

Enjoying the beat with the creek’s Rollin Stones

 

Chuck berries and Cranberries

Both bee-bopped beside Muddy Waters          

Where Beetles Twist and Shout

Just a-doin what they should-a bin otters

 

Over from the Dire Straits, Beach Boys

Had arrived in their Jefferson Airplane

They were gunna Rock Round the Clock

Till their Hound Dogs felt no pain

 

Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered

I finally got way too Heebie Jeebied blue

Until Jim Dandy and a Boy Named Sue brought

The Chattanooga choo-choo to the Rescue

dear DAVIE... I love this piece, you really brought in all my favorites for this... form different eras too... i like the sway and beat of he poem, quite musical in itself; mostly the 60' s and 70's and all terific entertainers...and oh I forgot those blue suede shoes, Elvis' landmark....

Quite the smorgasbord of musical memorabilia and song references in this piece. I remember Michael as a cute little boy singing Rockin' Robin when nobody knew he'd grow up to be the king of pop. Time flies and the music lifts her wings like a Jefferson Airplane. I enjoyed the read.

Arlie Carter and Bill Warren wrote, Wild Side of Life and it was recorded by Hank Thompson, not Hank Williams. "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" or the song written as a "reply" was written by Jay Miller and recorded by Kitty Wells. But you did well, Pat, you remembered it was by Hank somebody. (smile)

Incidentally, on the topic of that particular son, Rod Stewart recorded a rock version of Wild Side of Life on his A Night on the Town album. I think I like Rod's version best.
