Walkin the concrete sidewalk

Just passin door after door

Which leads into store after door

Where there are people all round

Havin their heads to the ground

While they passed by door after door

Walkin long the concrete sidewalk

Everyone looks just the same

Walkin long the concrete sidewalk

Sometimes they bumped each other

Then just kept on walkin

Sometimes people were talkin and walking

Past the stores with the doors

Which had linoleum or wood floors

And employees with lotsa chores

Who musta been omnivores with sticky pores

Or maybe worn out bodies with abuncha sores

Who mighta made vapors in drugstores

And kept bandages stored in drawers

While each one totally ignores the outdoors

While listenin to music played indoors

Longside the concrete sidewalk

With the old metal grandfather clock

At the end of each fourth block

Where everyone would walk

Along the concrete sidewalk

Past the stores with welcome

Written on their glass doors
