New Year rings in a refreshing charm
The sense of a bright light offering an arm
Snowflakes falling, eager throngs streaming by
Bulging clouds, starry skies, beaming on high

Rockets and firecrackers, dismiss from the fold
A past that no longer, is fitting the mold
Now sitting back, to enjoy the big show
Cheers, whistles, and bright colored bows

Final days now in a comfortable seat
A tap of the feet to greet the new beat
Not long ago what was a fresh dance
Now just content to glance at the prance

Outrageous hairdos, flamboyant bright dresses
Confetti and streamers, from all the high spaces
Night club music, and horn offering’s all round
All a part of a new buoyant surround

Capricorn has left us as Aquarius replaces
Pisces will travel to far distant places
While horoscopes may scope out your New Year
It’s to tradition we will mostly adhere

Gay festive places with gay dancing throngs
Chanting and singing of so many songs
Night lights ricochet round gathering places
Off dresses and hairdos and fresh smiling faces

This is the moment we have all waited for
Would the last of 2023, please shut the door
As the clock reaches, all eyes will be gawking
Out on the dance floor, they’re all a rockin

As the old days last seconds, are counted down
Balloons float up, from each city and town
Then in unison, the throng sends forth a great cheer
All round the globe, all wish for, a Happy New Year
