Tax Man

Tax Man

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

"

The taxman came

This guy’s a crook

Who always brings

His receipt book

For any changes

He came to look

At the roof replaced

Those walls refaced

New well encased

Our garage

Now double spaced

Nasty weeds

All being erased

Replaced septic tank

For sweet scented waste

Our sagging fence

Recently re-braced

New curtains

Smartly laced

The lack of any

Sort of toxic waste

Even stopping for

A fresh cake taste

He wrote it down

One and all

Then said he’d

Give us a call

But as he

Walked through the hall

I didn’t remind

Bout the dreadful fall

A taxman trapdoor

Which he fell through

And straight away

Was taken to

That place of

No tax return

Where nasty tax men

Are sent to burn

Our taxes stayed

The same this year

Of no increase

Were we to hear

Oh, so this is what George Harrison was singing about...
"If drive your car I'll tax the street, if you try to walk, I'll tax your feet"---

The poem speaks of the downfall of a taxman... in literal sense. Quite a story you've presented us with, author Dave Brown, it is quite entertaining and comedic in a sense but I suppose I'm not a part of the target audience to indulge in relatability in your work yet. Thank you for sharing.
