the reins His pony threw
back its head Both looked off
at the horizon Where the sky
was turning to red Then at the lone
goose honking As it flew by
overhead He pulled out
his carbine And took careful
aim A wandering
rider Could always use extra game But with this
lone fellow Lined up in his
eye His heart felt a
connection And let her fly
by With night’s sky
starting its bite He dismounted
neath a lone prairie tree And as brother
goose continued his flight He knew that
once more After gettin his
cooking fire bright He’d be
