Sunlight SliversA Chapter by Dave Brown🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘Sunlight slivers onto an aged mossed roof Slipping past sentinels towering aloof Where intrusions neath Cedar and Firs A creeping forest possessively blurs Silver salal seeks cross shaded root A rotted stump wears a decaying boot A black Eagle stares from a cedar shoot Scars of intrusion, steadily dilute Soft wings, like a phantom’s breeze On a limb, silent squirrel taking ease A woodpecker’s echo travels the deep Morn’s dew retreats from eve’s sleep Cougars return to tend their affairs Grizzlies seek round for winter lairs A fading totem blends into moist ground An owl comment’s with its hooty sound No more sounds of double axe blows Now only cackling and cawing of crows As the old cedar cabin crumbles each day Wilderness re-serves its’ miracle entree © 2023 Dave BrownReviews
