Getting Old

An unfortunate thing, about all this getting too old

Is lost chance of becoming a Playperson centerfold

You’re more like an old boot needing to be resoled

However, experience is worth more than gold

 

And there’s Grandchildren, they’re pretty nice

Occasionally, some inclined to take your advice

And if your life needs a little extra shot of spice

Usually, an oldie can afford the outrageous price

 

Hours are your own, either early or late

Whatever you want can be put on your plate

And when sitting too long, you’ll not stagnate

It’s just you now have extra time to contemplate

 

That old bones squeak confirms you’re alive

Be happy you can still see well enough to drive

However, there’s a good chance you’ll eventually arrive

At the centerfold, of some ancient archive

 

So, enjoy your Birthday, they disappear too fast

As far as youth goes, too dang bad it don’t last

What happens from here on’s hard to forecast

Do get out on the town and have a real blast

yes, it is frustrating
I do the same thing
last night a big hairy spider crawled up my stomach, then over my face and woke me just before going into my ear
I was shivering and sweating

Yes, those old bones are starting to pain and creak.... but really age is a state of mind (mostly).., if you're 90 and still kicking well, that's okay and I believe in quality of life... So age may just be a number or it's imminent death, either one, but suffering is the worst. Well done my friend!

Plenty of things which are still well worth the effort even though age has a habit of reminding us about our bones not being as young as they once were. With age comes freedom. Free to do more in the time available. That’s if you are not hobbling around with a zimmer frame. Family time and time with friends will always be special. Experience is worth more than gold, yes I agree. Who wants to be a centerfold when covered in wrinkles and surplus flesh? That counts for us women as well as the male of the species. A fun piece with a serious slant too:)
