Life without an angel

Life without an angel

A Poem by David Broderick

We were ripples on the surface,
We were both a blink in time,
We were the clouds on the horizon,
We were the mountains never climbed.

I couldn’t tell you to stop,
Before you jumped off the bridge;
I couldn’t warn you that a bomb would fall,
Bringing destruction and carnage

A million happy memories,
A thousand precious moments,
All corpses on the battlefield,
Stained crimson with regret.

Now we're King and Queen of silent desperation,
Phasing from each others worlds
Two comets of blinding light
Slowly and painfully burning out
What an anticlimax for such a beautiful thing -
For such a beautiful girl

I was halo infested, couldn’t be detested
But I shattered the future that you requested
Life without the expected, life without the norm,
Life without the fire, life without the storm,
Life without an angel

Bridge/carnage pushing it a bit? Methinks, but I wrote this an age ago and wanted to leave it as it was when I rediscovered it searching through my towers of paper.

I loved the analogy of two comets of blinding light, an imagery of love and life that at one moment is brilliant but burns out to soon. Also the connection between a celestial angel and a atmospheric star. Beauty and pain combined. Very well written.

A bit on the dark side, but isn't that the point? I like it just the way it is. Very descriptive.

Good job!

Oops. Okay, fixed. I deserve some form of ridiculous internet punishment for my foolishness.

Now were King and Queen of silent desperation, = we're
and
I couldn't worn you that a bomb would fall, = warn

have errors, but apart from that the poem is absolutely faultless. It's well written and the ending is sexcellent!
