Oftimes I WonderA Poem by David O Whalen (O Haolin in Celtic)My first poem in a few years is basically about if I still have poetry in me (assuming I ever did)
Oftimes wonder why poets
Pen the words they do Is it for themselves alone Or to be shared by me and you Are they truly lonesome folk Or just generous to extremes Perhaps sharing or baring Their hopes and their dreams As for me. it’s pretty simple you see Like most I wish for comments and replies But most of all I wish to cause a bit of glee A smile or a wee sparkle or e’en a tear to your eyes It’s selfish I know…but I bask in the glow That I feel when I touch someone’s mind Be it lightly or mighty…be it quickly or slowly Oftimes I wonder…is mine…touched in kind? • © 2022 David O Whalen (O Haolin in Celtic)Author's Note
