Changes

Changes

A Poem by David O Whalen (O Haolin in Celtic)
"

looks can be deceptive

"
I like to  watch old people
And imagine how they were
In their youth

For what we see now
That they’re old and bowed
Is not what they once were…in truth

That little ol’ lady that seems a bit dotty
Was in fact in her youth…
Likely a bit of a hotty!

And that big ol’ fat dude
Over there, overflowing his chair
Well I feel kinda sorry for him

There was a time way back
When he used to run track
And his nickname back then was “Slim”

And when I look in the mirror
What do I see… of the
Youth that I used to be

Well I see the same guy
Same as I always  see
With eyes full of twinkles

I haven’t changed a bit
I’ve still got “it”
Except “It” comes now with a boat load
…of wrinkles…
