Sunset

Sunset

A Poem by David O Whalen (O Haolin in Celtic)
"

Something extraordinary, most take for granted

"
Wan shades
of carmine and carnelian
Dying in a sunset’s
languid demise
The flame of pink,
the smoke of lavender
Grudgingly giving rise…to
Final feeble glowing light
of velvety purple
Then to Ebon soot of night

You are indeed a poet. I also write of the sunset, but mine is just trifling verse.

Very interesting use of capitalization. I normally don't approve of that sort of gimmick but in this piece it does work very well, since you use it to highlight the bits you want the reader to focus on and to gloss over the transitional material. I especially think it was clever of you to capitalize 'Ebon' in the last line, since it's a very descriptive word that can be used very powerfully - as you did.
I don't like poems that are overly wordy and yours is definitely not that. Simple, succinct, and with a delicate attention to beauty and nature. Well done.
