As A Dragonfly

As A Dragonfly

A Poem by David O Whalen (O Haolin in Celtic)
"

Imagination

"
I liken myself to a dragonfly
Settling with  papery rustle
To briefly watch
The world go by

Then to flit away
In a hurried hustle
To settle anew
And to anew espy

To gaze about
In wide-eyed wonder
I try to take it all in
Again…before I fly

The wonder of water
The sound of thunder
I perceive through the eyes
Of the dragonfly

I hear the flowers
Each and every one
I taste the wind
I absorb the sun

Tis only human I am
But in my mind I cause
my form to morph…
into another wondrous one

I liken myself
to a dragonfly
With parchment wings
And faceted eye

The better to see
All things that matter to me
And fathom the
scheme of the sky
