THE SHRINK AND THE MADMAN

THE SHRINK AND THE MADMAN

A Poem by David Dodsworth

A curious fellow clad only in yellow
approached the psychiatrist's chair

He'd a story to tell and a listener as well
in the shape of the shrink sitting there.

He told him of voices that made all his choices

Spoken from inside his head

He talked about dreams and the things he had seen

Each night as he lay in his bed

The fellow in yellow then said with a bellow

"Help me I think I am mad".

The shrink with a smile said"Wait there a while.

All the dreams that you speak of, are sad".

He jumped up ,from his chair, and leaped in the air

Dancing and shouting"Of course".

And with no hesitation, and full concentration

applauded himself with some force

"Don't pick up the bottle, these dreams you will throttle,

The voices will all disapear".

So quick as a flash he took the mans cash

And the truth was no longer unclear.
