The Funfair Of Love

The Funfair Of Love

A Poem by David Dodsworth

The funfair of love, is our love described
Life’s roller coaster with its ups and its downs
Exciting when you ride it, alas the excitement soon fades

As love so often can, and does
Soon returning as we climb back in to ride again
A merry go round of feelings
That are mixed up and jumbled as we pick up speed
Only to get off again back where we started
The coconut shy is full of hearts to be won
And just like always, you win mine
On the bumper cars we collide, as we do in life
Bouncing back from each other only to crash again
Unsure in love, then bathing in its emotions once more
And like the ghost ride
full of scary moments that leave me unsure
That is how our love is described
Should we leave now?
Or take another ride.
