The bouncer (doorman)

The bouncer (doorman)

A Poem by David Dodsworth

Stood at the door night after night

Holding back chaos, preventing a fight

Throw out the drunk, that’s stealing his drinks,

Out on the street with no time to think

Chatting to girls that que to get in,

Who’s only ambition is out for a fling

Stag do’s and hen nights all welcome here,

If you behave and you buy lots of beer

Dressed in a crombie with gloves on my hands

Shutting the doors on the mad football fans

For I am a bouncer as hard as they come,

It don’t bother me that you carry a gun

Frisking for drugs or even a knife

I work on the doors and this is my life

The girls like the muscle they all think I’m great

Even the one that looks a right state

Another night over it’s time to go home

I jump in a cab but I’m not on my own

I pulled for the girl that looked like a mess

The one with big b***s and an old fashioned dress

She leaves in the morning as quick as she can

I go back to my door cause that’s who I am
