Prayer

Prayer

A Poem by David Dodsworth

Every night I close my eyes and pray to god above

To take away the evil, and only leave the good

I thank him for the strength he gives, and food upon my plate

For guiding me the times I strayed, to forgive and never hate

I pray the world turns back to him, and hope they see the light

When all seems lost he is the way, he brightens up my life

I thank him for lord Jesus who gave his life for all

Betrayed by man and put to death for a bounty that was small

I know that you can hear me lord, my prayers are not in vain

You give me strength to carry on, even when there’s pain

Once again I thank you lord for all you’ve done for me

For showing me the way, and helping me to see

And when the day of judgement comes and I kneel at your feet

I know my place is with you lord, my soul for you to keep

                                     AMEN
